Authbition Weekly — Quality in Body, Mind, and Writing

I stripped down my writing and revealed more than my voice

Welcome to the weekly newsletter for Authbition—it’s Authenticity and Ambition. It’s the best of the best, built on vulnerability, non-attachment, caring, thoughtfulness, and whole-mindedness.

This week, I’m sharing two pieces that go hand in hand. One is an essay about stripping down my writing. The other is a podcast episode recorded while I was on the massage table with my friend and massage therapist, T'Keyah Moore.

In the essay, I’m Stripping Down My Writing, I reflect on how the podcast has revealed more than my voice. Eighteen episodes in, I’ve learned that my message comes through clearest when I peel away the layers—less polish, more presence.

The podcast episode feels like the audio mirror of that. While T'Keyah worked on my muscles, we talked about authenticity, ambition, earliest memories, and the Whole Mind Game. We played it live, exploring the tension between learning new skills and staying focused on current strengths. Out of that came a word I keep circling back to: quality.

Quality in writing.

Quality in the body.

Quality in how we live.

Both the essay and the episode remind me that stripping down isn’t about losing something. It’s about uncovering what’s been there all along.

This Week’s Highlight Read

I want to close this week by highlighting a piece from Tony Stubblebine, CEO of Medium:

We Want Your Feedback: How Can Writers Use AI to Tell Human Stories?

First, thank you to Tony for opening up this conversation. AI is changing the way we write, publish, and connect with readers—and it’s rare to see a platform leader invite feedback so directly.

I’ll be digging into this more in a future essay. For now, I recommend giving it a read and reflecting on how we can make sure AI helps us share more human stories, not fewer.

Thank you for taking the time to read, listen, and watch Authbition. I appreciate you.

Health, happiness, kindness, respect
for every being and all things.
